Commercial Organizational Design at a Global Vaccine Manufacturer
SITUATION
A global vaccine manufacturer aimed to offer government clients and multi-lateral organizations the opportunity to sign capacity reservation agreements (CRAs) to reserve manufacturing capacity in the event of a future pandemic. However, they required guidance and support in developing and operationalizing this new commercial strategy. To execute this strategy, additional guidance and support was needed in the development and operational design of this new commercial team.
OUR ROLE
After conducting an extensive review of the pandemic preparedness CRA landscape and assessing the client’s internal capabilities, we developed a detailed commercial operating model. This model defined specific roles and responsibilities while emphasizing global, regional, and local collaboration. The approach also emphasized cross-functional teamwork and transparency to improve operational efficiency.
IMPACT
The adopted commercial operating model provided a clear framework for executing the CRA strategy. Following the adoption of our recommendations, the client team made the necessary budgetary, hiring, and resource allocation decisions necessary to operationalize the new CRA strategy.
